This guitar was featured in the 2002 online catalog for Robin Guitars.

This guitar is in "near mint" condition. Never gigged, probably less than 1 hour play time. Extremists will probably think they see two tiny marks the size of the tip of the end of a pencil...the rest of you will declare it unmarked. Most guitars in a showroom have more wear than this guitar. I have another Savoy and an Avalon and this one just never made it out of the house...so rather than have it just sit on the shelf any longer.....

I am auctioning this guitar to help a friend with some family medical bills... Ernie Durawa, one of Austin's finest drummers, has been playing drums nearly 50 years. Ernie played w/ Delbert McClinton in the 70s, was a member of The Texas Tornados, and has played with a number of other artists and on a host of albums throughout his career. Ernie has also devoted some of his time to a music appreciation project that takes Jazz to elementary schools. Every summer for several years, Ernie has also taught at least one week for National Guitar Workshop, generally in Austin and most recently in New Orleans. I got to know Ernie at NGW and have been very impressed with his willingness to share his gift with others as a teacher and as part of the house band. I have always considered Ernie part of what makes the NGW experience very special. It's great to watch a teenage kid get to work with a world-class musician. Ernie can also be found gigging around Austin, and he's one of the guys who makes the live music experience in Austin so special. You can read more about Ernie's musical accomplishments at www.erniedurawa.com.

Ernie's wife was diagnosed with lung cancer about a year ago, and has been through chemotherapy. Insurance covered some of the expense, but not all. The illness has also kept Ernie's wife from working for the last year, so they have had to deal with that challenge as well. Ongoing medical treatments are also financially challenging as CT scans are required once every ninety days to be sure the cancer is in remission.

I just felt compelled to do something for Ernie and his family and figured the auction would generate some awareness too. I will be donating the ending price of the auction to Ernie and his family. Yep, if the guitar sells for $2000 then Ernie will get the $2000 and you get the guitar. This is not a tax-deductible event for me, nor will it be for you. It's just a gift. It's a gift because it's the right thing to do. This won't cover the current bills but it WILL take some of the strain off.

Auction will start Thursday December 9th and end Sunday, December 19th. Get ready to tell your friends...

If you want a great guitar and the chance to help someone out at the same time, then bid.

If you're a Delbert McClinton fan, BID.

I have set a modest reserve on this auction (around dealer cost,) but am hoping someone steps up and bids much higher.
